Are you are interested in creating your own comic book or children’s book application for an iPod or iPhone? We have found a great resource for anyone who is looking to do this inexpensively.

GlimmerApps.com has just released new software that enables users to create their own book apps. Their software uses a simple online drag & drop system, so it is very easy to use.

Here are some of the things that we love about this new website:

1. You Can Make Money With It – In this tight economy, who doesn’t need a new stream of income. If you have a unique idea for a children’s book or comic book then you could make money with it. You can submit your app to Apple and if your app is approved (just make sure it meets their guidelines) then you can set your price and start charging for downloads.

2. You Can Play With it For Free – With a short and simple online account registration you can login and start to play around with the software. There is no need to pay unless you actually decide your application is finished and ready to submit to Apple for approval. There is no risk in trying the software out to see if you can create what would like.

3. There’s Nothing Like It – This software is unique, easy to use and provides a unique service. If you are interested in taking your children’s picture book or comic book idea and turning it into an iPod or iPhone application, this the best place to do it.

4. Cheap Submission to Apple – Most app creation software and services cost thousands of dollars. For only $299 Glimmer Apps will let you create your app and then submit your application to Apple for approval.

5. Easy To Use Software – The software is SO user friendly that you don’t need any technical background to put your app together.

If you are considering creating a children’s book app or a comic book app – tryout the online app creator by clicking here: www.GlimmerApps.com

We have had several people inquire about our opinion on the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. The Academy of Art University in San Francisco is a very large University and one of the largest graphic arts and art schools in the country. The school, however, is very expensive. Many students have been debating whether or not they should attend the school.

After interviewing several students who have attended and graduated from the school, here are some of the main things that previous students have mentioned after having attended and graduated from this school.

Don’t expect the school to help you find a job after graduating

One of the downfalls of attending the school is that they don’t do much to help you find work after graduating. If you are thinking about attending this school, make sure that you know what your plans are after graduating and how you’re going to find work. You can depend on the school to help you find a job. If you’re considering going into fine arts, be aware that finding work in the finance industry is always difficult no matter where you go to school. If you are considering going into the graphic design industry, the school is a little more apt to help you find work, but you can’t depend on them.

Keep in Mind That it is Expensive

The Academy of Art University is one of the most expensive art schools in the country. If you are majoring in something like fine arts which is difficult to obtain employment with, then it might be best to attend a school that is cheaper so that you don’t end up with too much debt after school while unable to find work.

It’s Only Worth it if You Can Afford It

Unless you are extremely proficient in your field and are sure that you will be a will be able to obtain a employment. If the cost of school is not an issue for you then, yes it’s a great school to go to. If you plan on going into debt to attend the school. Then I would seriously consider avoiding the Academy of Art University.

Their Full Accreditation is Recent

AAU has only about fully accredited with the last few years. So, the school doesn’t have a long-standing reputation for being fully legitimate. Although the school does have some very good programs in fashion, graphic design and illustration, the accreditation and reputability of the school hasn’t justified its high costs in the past.

Think About the Cost of Living

Keep in mind also, that in addition to paying high tuition costs you will also need to pay for the cost of living in the Bay Area and the San Francisco area is one of the highest in the world.

The bottom line is that AAU is a good school as far as having top-notch programs, quality classes and instructors. However, the instructors, classes and the programs are not so great that they justify the high expense associated with attending the school.

Many of our visitors have been deciding whether or not to use Lynda.com’s training videos. Membership to Lynda.com’s training videos cost about $25 per month. The training videos cover topics such as learning how to complete specific tasks on Adobe software, Apple, Microsoft, Dreamweaver and others types of software. Membership is month-to-month, so you don’t have to worry about being committed. The site has over 68,000 tutorials. You can watch the videos and pause them as you need to. Lynda.com is a great resource for anyone who is involved in graphic design or needs sharp and media creation skills.

The question is, will what Lynda.com has to offer work for what you need?
Here are some of the pros and cons about using Lynda.com:

Pro – Huge Selection
With over 68,000 tutorials and over 1600 learning courses, you can gain a pretty thorough understanding of almost any little task that needs to be done with Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Apple products and other types of software.

Con – Mostly Specialized Training
Most of the training videos on Lynda.com are specialized tasks and are usually not appropriate for beginners.

Pro – Organized Materials
The learning videos on Lynda.com are very organized and it is very easy to find the materials you are looking for. When searching online through free videos trying to find instruction sometimes it can be very time-consuming to find what you’re looking for.

Pro – Saves $
When you consider the cost of taking a college course which would teach the items that you are trying to learn, Lynda.com will actually save you quite a bit of money compared to the cost of taking a course through school or a private course.

If you are on the fence about membership, $25 isn’t very much. You might as well try it for a month and see if it will work for you. Then, if it doesn’t, you can always cancel.

There are several advantages and purposes of digital compact discs or CD’s. These days music CDs are very popular. CD’s can be used for data distribution or for other material as well. Some CDs have feature films or videos. There several software and educational CDs too. Many CDs come with a CD logo. This logo is the indirect representation of what the CD has.

A good CD logo must be plain, unique, suitable, sensible, and graphic. There are five principles that you should follow while designing logos for CDs:

1. Simple

A simple logo for your CD makes recognition easy. Simple logos allow versatility & memorability. Logos for CDs should feature its contents without being overdrawn. A refined and distilled CD logo will draw the customer’s attention to the CD, while they are browsing through crowded racks and shelves at a store.

2. Memorable

After the principle of simplicity, follows the principle of memorability. Surprisingly, the subject matter of the logo has little importance. Even appropriateness of content doesn’t play a very significant role. An effectual CD logo is always memorable. This can be attained by having a plain and appropriate logo. The only mandate is that the logo should be memorable, distinctive, and clear.

3. Timeless

A CD logo should be timeless. There are certain collectors CDs, which people treasure for years. The logo should stand the test of time. While designing CD logos make your logos such they stand out and make the CD recognizable even after several years.

4. Versatile

An effective CD logo should be versatile enough to serve the purpose with an artistic flair. The logo should be generally designed using Vector Format. This allows the logo to be scaled to any size. Your logo should match the round shape of the CD.

5. Appropriate

Your CD logo must be appropriately positioned and designed for the CD. For example, if you are designing a logo for children’s CDs, it would be nice to use childish fonts & colors.

Remember that your designed logo doesn’t need to directly symbolize the services which CD offers. A logo gains its usefulness from the quality of that which it represents.
