Not really. But French graffiti artist Christophe Schwarz, aka Zevs, thought it would be pretty cool to paint a Coco Chanel logo on the outer wall of Chater House (an office tower in Central, Hong Kong) above the window of a Giorgio Armani boutique. Prosecutors, however, didn’t think it was so cool and told Schwarz he must replace that part of the facade for HK$6.7 million. According to the South China Morning Post, “Schwarz is known for liquidating famous logos by pouring paint over them”.

In an effort to improve brand consistency, Google has created new logos for each of its products. According to the company’s blog, “product names will appear in clean, simple blue lowercase type alongside the Google logo and will be the same size and color on all Google websites.” The logos will be consistent on international domains as well. A few of the new logos can be seen already on sites such as Google Moderator and Google Code. Look for more logos to roll out over the next few weeks.

Nike Sues Chinese Firms Over Logo

Author: admin

Apparently, two Chinese firms have been selling shorts bearing a basketball player silhouette similar to the one used in Nike’s “JUMPMAN” logo. Lawyers for the defendants, Shanghai Century Lianhua Chengshan Supermarket Co. and Shanghai Kangchen Garment Co., claimed the companies didn’t know their logo was similar to Nike’s. The logo features a slightly different silhouette with the word “sports” written underneath. Shanghai Century Lianhua Chengshan Supermarket Co. had purchased 39 pairs of the shorts from Shanghai Kangchen Garment Co., who claims it did not manufacture the shorts but bought 50 pairs from a market for about 13.20 yuan apiece– a little less than $2 USD. Nike is demanding an apology and 300,000 yuan (roughly $44,000 USD) for any damage caused to the brand.
