Superman Logo

The Superman logo is a pre-eminent and recognized emblem for the fictional superhero Superman. The Superman logo is also unofficially regarded as “S” shield. It has functioned as a model for character design after the superhero Superman gave his first appearance. This ritual of wearing a character symbol on chest has been impersonated by many other superheroes which include Batman, Spiderman, Fantastic Four, Green Lantern, The Flash and several others. However, Superman logo holds distinctive and powerful characteristics, which sets it apart from the other logos.

The creators of the Superman logo, Jerry Siegel and Shuster, wanted a powerful and significant design for the upcoming superhero. The first letter of the character’s name, that is “S”, sounded perfect to them. Fortunately, the logo made an everlasting striking effect on its spectators. The Superman logo consists of some interesting facts, having some deep connection with history, literature, science and arts.

Design Elements of Superman Logo:

Initially, the Superman logo was designed as a red and yellow police badge symbol, bearing a resemblance to that of a shield. Some variations in the shield kept taking place over the first few years of the comics. Eventually, the superman logo became an inverted bold yellow pentagon holding a red S on the inside.

The Diamond Structure of Superman Logo:
The Superman logo bears a stylish symbol which holds an outsize red letter “S”, emblazoned in a bold yellow shield which is surrounded by a red border. Superman logo upholds an elegant diamond structure which showcases a bold image of the superhero Superman. It reflects the authoritative and dominant character of the influential superhero.

The Bold Colors of Superman Logo:
Red and yellow are the only two colors featured in the Superman logo. Both the colors represent dominance and dignity of the character. Red and yellow are the hues of ROA (the red sun of Superman’s planet, Krypton) and SOL (name of the sun and also regarded as sunlight). The yellow shade explains the activation of Superman’s power by Earth’s yellow sun. However, Krypton’s sun, which is red in color, displays his connection to the planet.

The Initial “S” of Superman Logo:
The iconic “S” symbol of the Superman logo stands for the major character of Superman. The “S” symbol not only means Superman but also suggests Saving Lives, Stopping Crime and providing Super-Aid wherever needed.

For many years, the creators of the significant Superman logo have changed the insignia to some extent but the fundamental elements of the logo have remained unaltered. The elegance in the Superman logo has been well taken care of and still continues to impose a magnificent impression on its spectators.
