New York Academy of Art (NYAA) is an art graduate school (also known as the Graduate School of Figurative Art) and was founded in 1979 by Andy Warhol and Stuart Pivar, among other art students.  New York Academy of Art is a non-profit graduate school located in the Manhattan district of New York, New York.

The graduate programs that are offered at New York Academy of Art include painting, drawing, sculpture and more.  Continuing education courses are also available for students that want to take courses at their leisure.

Tuition for New York Academy of Art

During the first year at New York Academy of Art, tuition prices are $14,100 and semester fees are $750, which is a total of $29,700 annually to attend the first year of classes.  The second year is slightly less, at $28,000 annually.

The Scholarships that are offered at New York Academy of Art are highly competitive; therefore in order to receive the fullest consideration, you must submit pieces that best exemplify your strengths and skills in fine art.  Some of the scholarships that are available on a limited basis are:

President’s scholarship at NYAA

This is the highest award given at NYAA.  It is a $20,000 reduction in tuition, for the first year of schooling.  Students given this award help with the open houses and tours as needed.

New York Academy New Media Scholar

This award is given to one student, who shows a strong web presence in the process of applying for the MFA program at NYAA.  This student will receive $10,000 in tuition reduction over a 2 year span.  The student must continue to chronicle their experience in the college, for the purpose of recruiting new students.

Other Scholarships and Awards

New York Academy of Art offers other scholarships and grants available on merit, including Academy Scholars, Academy Service Scholarship, Portrait Scholars, The LCU Female Student Housing Assistance Scholarship and other special awards.
